Hey John, Welcome Aboard, and no need to apologize for questions, since we love to try to answer them!! It makes us feel smart!! As for the engine, there's no real way to tell by a photo... I would bet it's NOT a "375", since Mopar didn't make one that size..unless maybe it's a 360 that someone bored out and/or stroked, and came up with that number for a Cubic Inch size... Admittedly I've never heard of any Mopar engine--bored, stroked, or otherwise--that ended up with 375 as a CI number.... You could call the seller, and ask for the VIN (at least the first dozen letters/numbers), and that would tell you what the engine was FROM THE FACTORY... It won't guarantee that it has that engine now....although if the seller knows anything, he CAN tell you if the motor numbers match the body. (Just a hunch, don't quote me....but I'm thinkin' that is a 318... don't know why, but when I looked at the motor pic, my first thought was: "318". Again, welcome aboard!! Jer.

That's a pretty solid looking car. I like the 2nd gen center console. I was always fond of the courtesy lamps in the sides of them.

318 engine is most likely correct. It is definitely a small block. The small blocks available for 1971 were the 318 and the 340. The way to tell from the picture is the rotor. This one is in the back of the engine, going straight up and down. A big block car would have the rotor up front and it would be on an an This is a standard Charger. It is not an R/T, SE, 500, or a Superbee. I am not sure if the 340 was available with the standard Charger. However, from the other stuff evident in the pictures, this car has been modified to the previous owners preferences. The 2nd gen console like Dave points out. This looks like it was an A/C car, but all the A/C stuff is missing from the engine bay. That is good though, it has the 26" radiator. The dashboard in the car has a vent to the left of the dash cluster. This was only in A/C equipped cars. Most likely, the VIN starts with WH23G1.... Here is a good source for identifying a 1971 charger. www.dodgechargerregistry.com/71%20versions.htmThe "G" stands for the engine. If it is "G", it was originally a 318 car. If the letter is higher in the alphabet, it was a bigger engine. Market value can be looked up. There are classic car price guides. Go to Barnes and Noble or some other type of place that has a large magazine rack. There are pricing guides for these cars. I would base it on a standard charger and go from there. If stock appearing is important, some of the changes will devalue the car. If you are looking for a solid car to tear apart and rebuild, look this one over with a fine tooth comb. It may look good on the outside, but who knows what is underneath. Good Luck.

Is the vin and they are asking for ~ 9000 dollars. seems kinda of steep for me right now.
Anyone know of a decent charger that can be a daily driver?

check the ebay/craigslist section of this forum. All sorts of deals can be found in that little section.
And 9k for that car seems a bit on the steep side to me, but I'm cheap.
