I was wondering if I'm suppose to have a dual snorkel air cleaner on my 73 400-4bbl w/ Thermoquad. I've got an original engine shot of a 73 440-280HP Charger SE from a Road Test article that shows a single snorkel air cleaner. I've always wondered because I've seen people selling original 73 440 Chargers they always had a single snorkel air cleaner which I thought was incorrect. Why would the 440 have a single and the 400 have a dual snorkel? If anything I thought the 440 would have a dual snorkel and the 400 a single. I know the 400-2BBL had a single snorkel. But I've also seen original 73 400-4bbl Chargers for sale that have also had dual snorkels. Who's right?

To wh23g3g I have a 1973 Charger SE w/ HP400 and it came with a dual snorkel breather. Is yours a hp?

some 440s and 340s could get the single air cleaner with an extra door below ( vacuum opened ) I think. Dunno what depends on, or if I'm wrong and it was a 71/72 deal
But if not with the extra door, it should get the dual SQUARED snorkels

Mine was originally a 318. But whoever did the conversion before me must have got everything from an original 73 400 Charger. Because the hood is a power bulge with 400 Magnum emblems and still has the original emissions decal, the 8.75 posi and the dual snorkel air cleaner. I thought all 400-4BBL and 440s would have a dual snorkel air cleaner.
