I finially get power to the car and now i have a fuel pump problem, it appears the the pump rod is too short. i reinstalled the pump twice making sure the rod is on the pump arm, it isnt even touching it. now what?

Is this a new (rebuilt) engine? I think the small block Mopar runs the cam off of an ecentric. If it was not installed with the cam....
Or it could just be the wrong pump.

no this is a 440, it doesnt have the ecentric like the SB's do only a push rod, this pump worked fine before the rebuild.

BB camshaft pump eccentric is part of the cast, like a valve lobe, but considerably smaller of course

I looked at my old cam and saw it, i thought thats how it worked. do you know the length of the rod? i think mine may be mushroomed a bit

there was a bad batch oif pushrods out there for a bit i spent a bit of time looking for a fuel feed problem a few years back and it was a soft pushrod that i had to replace! they were not hardened enough and would wear very quickly
