Though I no longer have a 3rd-gen Charger (I've had 7--three '71s, two '72s, a '73 and a '74, as well as a couple of 3rd-gen Plymouth Bs), I'm a huge fan of these cars and will own another someday. So, finding this site was far too cool for me... I stumbled across it while looking for pictures of Petty's '73/'74 Chargers.
Though I had a '71 Super Bee 440-6/4-speed car, I never got it to the point where it could be driven. So, the one I miss the most is my '72 SE, originally a triple-white 400 Magnum/auto, 3.23 Sure Grip, AC & cruise, Bazooka tips and 15x7 Rallyes. Of course, by the time I bought it, all the good stuff was gone including the original engine, trans, Rallye wheels, exhaust, etc. Only the 3.23SG remained, with a '77 400-4V where the original engine once sat. It was flat black and the vinyl had been dyed. By the time I was done with it, it was running a '72 440HP I'd fitted with a Six Pack. I drove it like that for over two years as my only car.
Its VIN was WP23P2G125715, last seen sitting in a meadow in Robesonia, PA stripped of everything good to get my '72 Rallye roadworthy.
That car got me through my divorce... I still miss it.
Anyhow, I've done a lot of work and research on these cars as well as many other Mopars, so I hope I can be somewhat of a resource for guys who are new to this "club". I worked at Year One for a couple of years, as well as a stint at Ray Barton Racing Engines so if I can help I certainly will.
I'm very happy to have found a place that revolves around my favorite model and generation of Mopar... and I'm still playing with 'em, I just don't have a 3G Charger right now.
Glad to be here!
