Got my 1982 Husky 430WR out of storage. Has not been kicked over in years. Got it started, but gas kept coming out of the carb overflow vent tube. What gives?

Fuel tubes rot.....But your trouble seems to be a gummed up carb.

I'm not familiar with the carb involved here. But if it has a float system, I'd be thinking stuck float over filling the bowl, and pushing fuel out of the vent. If a float is stuck and allowing gas to completely fill the bowl, it should be running pretty rich.

I had the exact same symptoms on a garden tiller I had in storage. Took off the fuel bowl on the carb, and sure enough it was all gummed up including the fuel float. I cleaned them both up, reused the rubber seal, and it started right up. I have not had much luck fixing my stuff, but that one problem I fixed all by myself. Sometimes when I take stuff apart it never works right after I reassemble it. This time it was different. Hopefully your machine will get fixed as well.
