How do I get my fender mounted turn signal to mount tight and flush on the fender. Mine are loose and sometime loosen enough for them to stop working. Is there something I can do to make them tight. I put this in the trim section because this deals with the trim part of them and not the electrical.

you must have enlarged the screw hole... so what you could do ?. need the way to get the hole to the propper size to screw keep in place... what ? dunno.
Of course stop to work because screw makes the ground with body, once a metallic insert on rubber pad is also making contact with screw.

Without completely understanding the cause of your problem: I'll offer 2 possible solutions. You need either fresh gaskets or shortened screws or both. If the screws are bottoming out in the mount then signal housing will be loose.....

as I stated the problem is, hole screw is worn and doesn't catch the screw thread anymore.
you can get a speed nut too and get it catched below the fender ( just thought on that ).
I'm on a smilar deal on my driver side ( still not that urgent thought )and get some piece of wire to use like a "fastener" and then the screw thread catches the sheet metal again

Thanks that is what I was possibly thinking now I gotta go to the hardware store and buy a fine threaded screw and nut.

a speed nut will match with the original blinkers selftapping screws... won't really need to get a fine thread screw and nut.

I was think a fastener of the "single-thread" type shown in this picture, used from inside the fender-well, would work nicely.

I'm going to get out my dremel and make a nut out of some galvanized steel I have lying around. I was going to use wood, but I think it would attract moisture.

OK, galvanized steel is apparently too hard for my dremel's drill bit it smokes and does nothing even with oil.

Made me look: My 72 mounting screw is from below into the chrome signal housing - no sheet metal issues. Would you like to have mine Dan? I'm not gonna use them. I'll donate them to your cause. $5 shipping works for me. PM if interested.
