Interlock system wasn't installed down here in Venezuela. having a 74 and finally after get all the stuff required ( wiring, reset button, sensors, seatbelts, buzzer etc... ) want to get it working but: At first instance with a rally underdash wiring I got from Canada, then of course I got a canadian control unit ( orange ) dunno remember the PN at this moment, what doesn't control the interlock function, just the buzzers and advertising lights. Works like a swiss clock! Then got an USA unit recently, Green one PN 3746658. Just got a few moments ago mounted but I still can start the engine without fasten the seatbelt and not even lights on the seatbelt light or buzzer. Do I still have the wrong unit ? or is this one damaged ? REALLY WANT TO GET the right unit. I know you'll be saying I'm insane trying to get the interlock control function... well YES I AM. PLEASE any guidance about this will be great and if you have some around that works like must be please I want it. Beside this two what I have, I have seen light blue units and tan units. As far I know Tan are for manual trannies ( I saw it with PN on an ebay auction and checked on my parts manual catalog ), so maybe I have to get the light blue one ?

Nacho, does that thing work like the metal strip (sensor) and electrical assembly that is under the passenger bucket seat in my 72. I'm not sure what it is for (light, buzzer, shutdown? ), because I disconnected the plug and pulled the seat. But what I'm saying is, it has to work on some kind of electrical contact between the metal strip and the seat coils when someone sits in the seat. Have you checked the setup (sensor?) under the seat Nacho? Maybe it is not EVER making contact, and the interlock system always "thinks" no one is sitting in the seat, and therefore allows the car to start...try jumping that circuit under the seat ("fooling" the interlock into thinking someone is seating in the seat), and then see if it starts....it might be that simple!! That's all I can think of...and I hope you're talking about the seatbelt interlock safety system, or I'm gonna feel really stupid!! ;D ;D

that sensor was available since 72... on 72/73 was just to make it work the seatbelt buzzer and light. On 74 Canadian and export models was the same but controled by a control unit ( 72/73 was simply a relay )
That sensor makes work the warnmig signal untill you have fastened the seatbelts.
However on 74 USA models the controilo unit doesn't allow you to start the engine untill you fasten the seatbelt. Being that when you start on the engine allwyas there is somebody sat on drivers seat, then a sensor ther is not necesary, so you need to fasten the driver seatbelt always ( same to 72/73 but only about making work the warning signals ).
IF was damaged the passnger seat sensor, then the problem would it be the car never start until you fasten the passenger seatbelt, but not backwards.
Anyway, the Canadian unit ( orange ) I have is working with same sensors plugged and untouched and works like a champ!!! so definitelly is not a sensor problem.
With this green USA unit I'm neither getting seatbelt signals ( beside I'm able to start the engine ) like the orange unit is making work.
