Hi All, I will eventually be moving from column to slapstick. Does anyone have the measurement (diameter) of the hole that the rod rod and parts go through. Here is a picture of mine, I guess I could take an educated guess using the three screw holes as a perimeter but I'd rather be more exact. I appreciate any help thanks, Alan.

That's the place to start...the key....with that stamping in the floor. I can't tell you the exact diameter of the hole for the shaft, but once you have the parts, it will become fairly evident what you need to do. Once that shaft and boot are set in place, you can use them as a guide or where everything else needs to go. Get the trans. linkage hooked up below, then work your way back up top...link to shifter from this vertical shaft sets the location for the shifter itself, and for where to weld the shifter brackets. Once the shifter is in place, this will locate the console for you, and where to weld the console brackets.

Thanks for the reply Dave and the diagram. Your order of doing it sounds like a good idea. I'll keep you posted and maybe ask a question or two when I get to it.

I have a parts car that I can measure the hole diameter if you need it. It is not at my house so I have to go to a friends about 10 minutes away.
Send me a PM since I do ot look at all the forums everyday.
Godspeed, JON

I have to do the same conversion. The pictured hole saw is 2 5/8" and fits a little loosely in the hole of a floor shift car. But....better too small of a hole...than too big. The middle dimple is where you locate the pilot bit for the hole saw.

Thanks for taking the time to post some pictures Tom. I figure if I don't go outside the dimples for the screws I should be ok.
