I was always under the impression that the body lines were different from 71/72 & 73/74 and don't match the door lines. Not to mention the forementioned core-support mount and wheel opening issues.
Where's Eye-gore when you need him???
Moparbob, you failed to mention what YEAR you NEED......

Well Quap, the bodylines are different - just not at the front of the doors.
edit: as in doors & quarters have different body lines

Okay, here are some pics of a 73/74 fender on my 72 Rallye. The notion that there is a difference in the body line in regard to the fender is completely unfounded and bogus. I have no idea why this idea is so prevalent despite being so obviously incorrect. Gap between fender and core support is a big giveaway when the hood is opened. pic of gap from wheel well area, backside Arch cut higher on 73-74, leaving about 8.25 inches of metal from top of arch to top of fender 71-72 measurement is close to 10 inches The body lines are not different This bolt hole in the top side of the 73-74 fender does not have a corresponding hole in the 71-72 inner fender.

Hey Tom, Thanks for going to all that effort to snap those pics and make those measurements, and for once again settling the Great 3rd Gen Front Fender Body LIne Issue....for now. Helpful Hint #983:Store those pics in your hard drive and bookmark this thread... it will come up again!!

My aplologies for my Bogusicity.
I've been hearing that body line line for YEARS. Maybe it's the guy with the 71 fender trying to outsell the guy with the cheaper 73 fender at the swap meet starting these viscious rumors!
...but it really explains the strange gap in the headlight bucket area on my buddy's 71 R/T. Looks like he's got a 73/74 fender with a modified sidemarker opening! AHA!!
Thanks for the super pics and for setting us straight.
