Hey guys. I have a 4 barrel holley on my car. And I have fuel feeding problems. I was told by the mechanic that there is a float inside that is stuck and won't let fuel through fast enough and then it shoots out the side of my carb. When I try and give it extra Gas it just wants to bogg down. By I'm kinda strapped for cash and was thinking of doing this myself. So I was lookin for advice I guess. Is this hat to fix and if not maybe where should I start.

One of my friends just had a problem with his Holley and thought the floats were sticking. When he took it apart he found that the plating of the body of the carb was "flaking off" and these flakes and particles were everywhere internally gumming up everything. Also since these are after the filter I'm sure the motor was sucking some of them in too. Look it up on-line, many people are complaining about it. The older ones (the ones that looked yellow) never had this problem. A while ago Holley changed their carbs to look silver (passably to make it appear more chrome....who knows?) and that is when they had problems. Not all of the silver ones have problems but when he showed me inside his it was horrible. You could actually see where the plating came off of the walls from inside the body of the carb.
My friend then called Holley to complain (even though his carb was over four years old) and they told him to send pictures of the inside of the carb and that they were aware of the problem. Three weeks later they sent him a brand new carb. Now that's a company that stands behind their product!
I'm not saying that if your Holley is not running right then this is the problem, it still could be a sticking float but I thought I'd share this.
