I use Firefox...18, I think. I am not getting the "not found" nonsense. When I click on some topics, particularly but not totally limited to older ones.... My screen goes back to the main page. For example I can't even open the parts for sale ads I put up this morning. For security sake, I'd prefer not use an older version of FF. My son tells me that I should just switch to Google Chrome. I have also had FF do some similar weird things when using a Craigslist search engine. over.

Click on a string and right back to the main page. Oh Jer.....

There are folks at Moparts having trouble too. Some do...some don't . Theer are a lot of variables.
Your son is right, Tom. Deliberately running an older version of any software presents some sort of security risk, as the updated are almost always designed around preventing some sort of attack. How serious the threat is? Who knows. I started having this problem with version 17, and now still with 18. So I'm still going back and reloading version 16 whenever the system decides to automatically update itself. And 16 still works just fine.

Don't be "oh, Jer"-ing me..... There's absolutely nothing I can do on this end to make changes when an internet browser "upgrades" itself and then difficulties arise on this Proboard forum. Believe me, I've searched my "admin capabilities", and--to the best of my knowledge--it can't be done. I found out recently that what I thought was a CA DMV website issue turned out to be that THEY had "upgraded" their website, and now MY Internet Explorer won't work correctly. ...so I had to download a version of Firefox just to use that website. As far as Google Chrome, I don't know if they've fixed the issues yet, but a couple of years ago my use of this forum was being seriously "malfunctioned", and Eckert helped me get rid of Google Chrome and all of its plug-ins and add-ons, and Presto!....everything was fine. I hope Firefox gets it's issues squared away for you guys, I really do....meanwhile why not consider using IE exclusively for this forum, in much the same way I use Firefox exclusively for the DMV page? I have never, ever had a security issue with using Internet Explorer, which is the only browser I use (except the aforementioned DMV page). The only security issue I've ever had was one a hacker got ahold of my Yahoo address book, and that was a Yahoo vulnerability, not IE. Meanwhile, I haven't given up on my research, I'll keep trying to find a fix on it from this end.

Jer, have you ever considered using a different format. Something like what dc.com uses. It's free and I have never heard of anyone complaining about not being able to accesspages over there. Just a something to consider.

Jer, I'd agree with you up to a point. This forum does seem to have issues with Firefox.
But...my proboards NASCAR forum has no issues with Firefox. And that, I cannot explain.

I do not know for certain but after encountering this issue on other websites, I noted a difference in how JavaScript handles invalid array index references between the older and the newer versions of browsers. In the older browsers, an invalid reference returns null or an empty string. In the latest versions of the browsers, invalid array references return 'undefined'. On a website for which I develop coding, my code was checking the array index references in all but one place which is how I discovered this behavior.
Invalid array index references are an indication of poor coding, inadequate checking of index values before they are used to reference an array element. I suspect the source of the problem is in the Proboards software. I would certainly open a request with them to look into this. Maybe there's a update to the Proboards software?
Just my #Twocents# ...
