I've been working on my project car since Nov. It's a 74 Charger SE with a 440. VIN shows it was a 400 but previous owner swapped it out. I was told about how particular he was at taking care of the car. Well it was nowhere near how I am. I've found one after the other of flaws to fix. I'm in the engine compartment now. Found a leaky carb so I took it apart to find the bowls were stripped out, had helicoils in them and it's just not going to work as is. I want to put a new carb on. I've got an Edlebrock Torker intake and the Holley (can't find any numbers for model). What model Holley should be on the 440 ? It's the HP version. I know this because I've removed the heads already and checked the pistons and cam. I'm open to your suggestions...

According to the numbers I see, 74 - 440hp is a thermo quad # 6462.

Thanks, odzking. That's the stock carb right ? What's the Holley equivalent ?

I run a 870 on my 512 stroker. I am guessing. 700-750 would suit your 440 just fine.

That's about what I was thinking. A 750 works for me ! I ended up with a 4160 4 brl 750. I've got an Edlebrock Stroker intake under it. The engine's coming out great and I hope to fire it up 1st time since the build in about a week or two!
