I don't think i have seen a steering wheel like that before, you take it with you when you get out? I guess they can't steal it if they can't drive it.

yeah it's a Grant repop, i don't really care if it's correct, but my old one was cracked to hell, and yes you just put a key in, unlock it, turn a lever while turning the wheel and it comes off. then you just put the cap on, turn it till it locks into place, and turn the key and the red cap locks into place.

For the last two days I have been getting the locks on the doors to work. This meant having the locks keyed to the car, raiding my stash of door hardware, a desert car is only good on the sheet metal, any thing plastic breaks when you touch it, and a couple of bandages. For some reason the drivers door was simple, I had to change out the door locking mechanism to get the lock to work. but when I did the same thing on the passengers side. the lock will not work with the knob on the inside, the key works fine. Took the locking mechanism out could not find why it would not work. Tried several locks and look at them to see if there was a difference. I ran out of plastic clips for the rods to secure the linkage might have raid some more doors later but it some what works. Also while I was at it I rebuilt the door hinges so the doors stay open now, I t was hard finding roil pins. the hardware store is not carrying them. Lucky there is a Fastenal close by.

Hey Light and wiper knobs restored. New paint and added chrome ring. It is very difficult to get good photos of knobs. Chrome ring is not painted, it is silver hot foil. I use iron, silicone mat and silver hot foil. I think there was not chrome ring originally, but I think those are nice.

Looks nice. I would not have known the silver trim was not original if you had not mentioned it.
