I went to an old parts store in my hometown and did some inquiring about USA made parts for my 73 se and found a AC delco voltage regulator ( new in the box ) that was 20+ years old with 1/8 dust on box. I here there much better than this new stuff, I hope so.

Finally on the road. Wife got the bumper fillers done and they look great. Her idea. Got the re-chromed bumpers on and finishing up the interior. See my Photo Bucket link for all the pics. Waiting on the decals from Phoenix Graphics and will probably put those on in the spring. s1306.photobucket.com/user/Hanks73340/library/

Can anyone tell me how to get more power out of my 71 charger with a 318. I already put duel exhaust & changed it to a 4 barrel carb. I would like to get into the 350 hp range. without spending to much. Money $1500. I would like to do it with as little machineing.

The right rear end gears would help a lot. I have 2.94s and want 3.23s, that would make it quicker. Find out what your gear ratio is, I think that is one cost effective why to get power on your budget.

Others can give additional info... A stock 318 typically has a low compression ratio of about 8.5 to 1, or less. Boosting this to around 9.5 or 10.0 to 1 would help. A set of closed chamber heads would improve this, and give you better flowing ports as well.
Or, if you get deep into the engine, a set of pistons which come to the top of the bore at TDC(stock pistons sit at around .100 down in the bore) will also help C.R. A cam with a higher lift is also suggested. You might give the folk at Hughes Engines a call, as they specialize in Chrysler performance.
There are all sorts of things one can do...it just takes $$$.

Installed Valve covers and removed EGR valve and covered holes with a steel plate to clean up intake a bit.

Installed my first new/replacement item on my 72 SE (Shadowfax II, Tom) the other day, a repro battery tray, support bracket, negative battery cable, and hold-down brace or clamp or whatever it's called. Not enough to warrant my own restoration thread, but hey it's a start....first thing constructive I've done to it besides pull the seats (oh, yay....TWO build sheets !!) and put new tires on it. Of course the only battery I had available was a side post, so I had to kind of temporarily morph it and the old positive terminal to fit..... The million mile journey begins.

Well.....I've had the Bee for a couple of weeks, and in that time I've done a few things.....but today..... Finally got all my new brake lines installed, plus a new master cylinder. All I had to do was bleed the brakes. But, the bleeders on the calipers were rusted in and I destroyed them trying to undo them, so they are at the local mechanics getting tapped out. Also pulled the old front shocks and replaced with KYB. Is it possible these were the originals that came with the car ? They certainly felt and looked like it. Peter

My 73 SE is getting new quarters, fenders freshened up and new paint. The 2nd paint job in the 40 years I've owned the car. The 400 is almost complete, thermoquad rebuild is next.
