Tom i think you re in your own Mopar world because the car looks so much better like this.Everyone who sees it says what a difference. The contrast of the sassy green and black wheel wells looks ten times better than all green. As for not liking posi rear ends then i suppose you like 6 cylinders or 318 s over 440s and Hemis . Phil. I am sorry if you interpret my responses as "lashing out" That is certainly not how they are intended. You came to this site asking for opinions. I have no problem giving unfiltered honest responses, based on my ongoing 32 year love affair with 71-74 Dodge Chargers. Just to clarify, if you painted the wheel wheels around the wheels black, that is probably fine on a modified car. If you painted the inner fenders under the hood black, that would be a mistake in the Mopar world. Apparently my Posi reference went over your head... in the Mopar world, we like 2 black streaks on the pavement too! But we have Sure-Grip rear ends to accomplish that.

Personal taste aside, it's just a question of "right", Phil. And by "right", we mean the way Ma Mopar produced them. For Mopars in the muscle car era, inner fenders are always body color. Black, speckled, or any other finish is non-factory. You, and others, may prefer the visual of blacked out fenders and trunk (I blacked out the engine compartment in my Duster as a teen c1980, before such muscle car behavioral "norms" were established), but Ma didn't make them that way. That's all we're saying. It may turn off the hardcore Mopar enthusiasts, and certainly the purists. It's a detail that, perhaps strangely, the majority of Mopar guys look for, even in a modified cars. But with automobiles (particularly customized ones), there really are no rules.
The Posi comment is another brand-specific bit of terminology/verbiage. An old Chevelle or Corvette does not have a SureGrip differential, but in GM terminology, a Posi. The term Posi was never used by Mopar. It's a SureGrip differential in the Mopar world. When you say posi in reference to a Mopar axle, everyone may understand what you mean, but it's not the Mopar term.

My wheel wells are black because it was undercoated since new. It's what saved it all these years.

Great Find!...that's two of you now that have had luck finding R/T parts......they are very rare here, I haven't seen any body parts available for many years!... I can imagine they were not cheap, but worth every dime
