Have to agree that it looks better without the black. How do you like the decal kits? I got mine from Mr. Heaterbox in Canada

Since I will be pulling out the Rallye dash again, I decided to order a new solid state IVR for the gauges.

Well, the Decals are o.k. but I would prefer either nice originals gauges in good condition or having the gauges sent out and stripped and painted.

I was kind of leery about how well the decals would hold up over time. But for this car, I can't see sending anything out and spending a whole lot of money. I will likely only use the decals for the speedo and tach. The rest of the gauges look nice as is.

If you want them to last as long as possible, I would remove the rust off the faces and prime them with SEM Black etch primer .....or..... even Rustoliums Etch primer will work. let them dry for at leat 48 hours before you put the decals on them.

Going to pull my carpet and seats tomorrow...and convert the car to floor shift and console. Need to tack down the bucket seat reinforcement plates too. Spent $300+ at the welding supply store this evening for a helmet, argon gas mix, and some gloves. Wife bought me a new Lincoln MIG welder about 8 years ago...I never have used it. Time to learn Could not find the ground cable. Welding supply store took care of that too.

Get something to cover the dash with. Cover anything you don't want sparks or hot slag getting on. Don't forget a fire extinguisher. Yes, even for tacking.

Tom, The bucket seat reinforcement plates are easy to make. I just take 1/8" steel plate cut them to fit centre rib to centre rib on floor pan , they will be approximately 4 " x 6 1/4" and align your floor hole for the seat stud and drill a 1/2" to 3/4" hole where the seat stud goes
