Hello All , I am brand new this forum. The reason I have joined is I have always just loved Dodge Chargers. Today I was out and about and came across one , in the weeds at a friends house. It is beyond buried in the weeds, the rats nest is so insane, I have to upload photo!! It has, he says, the original 318 Engine, it is a 72, it has the folding headlights, and everything looks to be there. Cosmetically a mess, but a nice clean straight body. The back end of the car I am looking at the lights configuration, it is a little different from some. I believe this is an SE. He said he would take a couple of grand, and it has engine and tranny. If I get this, he has a vacum that will suck out all of the rats nest. I would probably be looking at a lot of money, maybe, but I want it as a driver, and if the wiring not eaten, etc. What everyones thought here? Should I pick this up at 2 grand?

If the body is nice.Yes.. even if it doesn't have a drive line that goes with it

If it has an insane rats nest I doubt you can drive it without a lot of interior work. You will have to strip it out and see what the damage is. Not to mention the smell. Have him vacuum it out and have a good look at the upholstery and wiring. It is definitely worth 2 grand if the body is solid. It just depends how much work and money you want to spend to make it yours.

Parked the 71 in it's winter stall, after de-crittering and spraying and re-trapping the stall, (and car: 3 in the engine bay and 4 in the interior). Bought the annual indoor car cover for it, drained the carb fuel, Sta-bil in the tank (on last fill up) disconnected the battery, stuffed a potato in the exhaust tips, secured it down, said a few words over it, and laid it to rest (on blocks) for the upcoming winter. Truly a sad day, as it always is at the closing of my spring and summer fun in it.
I winterize it a little earlier than most folks do, but it's comin up harvesting time, and I wont have the time or the energy for any cruises in it. Or for that matter for sparing the nearly whole day it takes to winterize it.
Come on spring 16.

I took this old, crusty, poorly painted , AC line off and started making it look much better. Ill likely paint it Flat black. Any suggestions on color? Also waiting for a reluctor to go with this pick up coil from Classic. They are slow to ship in my experience. Sent from my SM-G920P using proboards

In my opinion, I would mask the rubber parts off, clean up all the metal and prime it with some good primer (etching primer woks good) and then paint it semi-gloss black.

Yup , was going back and forth in my mind between flat or semi. It appears that the previous owner used some sort of black glossy paint mixed with pebbles or sand. Strange but true. Semi gloss it is.

Or since it is right over the engine, a black hi-temp engine paint. That is what I did with my blower motor as they always peel from being near the exhaust manifold.
