Short block is complete. I just got the windage tray and oil pan bolted on. I rented a harmonic balancer installer from O'Reillys. It helped till the last half inch and then I stopped because the bearing that is used between the balancer and nut sounded like it was being crushed. I had heated the balancer in the oven at 225* but I think it cooled off too soon (or I was too slow). Anyway, the last half inch was finished using the large washer and ARP bolt that will stay on the engine. I actually had to loosen the nut and re-torque because it was taking more than 135 ft/lbs to seat the balancer. I sure hope this engine runs well, because I don't want to try removing that press fit.

Degreed the cam, right on spec. Checked piston to valve clearance, have plenty. Next, file a little off the aluminum heads for pushrod clearance.

Got the seat spacers in the mail today, so I put the seats in. Also bled the master cylinder. Tomorrow I guess I'll bleed the rest of the system. Still waiting on the grant steering wheel install kit. Been on backorder with Jegs for about a month. Then I can put the steering wheel on and she'll be a driver again. Thats "dull alumium silver" paint on the dash. Wood grain was in real bad shape. Not sure yet how I feel about it. If I had the money I'd probably pay someone to fab up an aluminum dash insert and put some nice autometer gauges in it.

I am currently in the process of making a custom grille. I wanna see that Custom grill.....what are you doing/planning......I will make one someday that has a cross between a 71 and 70 charger setup.....I am not crazy about the 3rd Gen standard grill......and the hideaways need that center portion of the bumper removed...In my opinion!
