Hey everybody. I'm new to the forum but I thought I'd tell you about some of the repairs I've been doing to my '71 over the past few months to get it ready for the summer.
Recent completions:
-New floor pan under drivers seat/pedals (RockAuto.com)
-New carpet (RockAuto.com)
----not too happy with it, the molding wasn't quite right
-RAM HDX clutch kit (RockAuto.com)
----chatters a bit more than I'd like but it holds when I step on it
-pertronix Ignitor III electronic ignition module and 45,000V coil
----best purchase I've made for this car yet, I love it!
-swapped out the Carter AVS for a Holley Street Avenger 770
----part of me felt bad, but I could not find the air leak in that AVS and I got tired of messing with it. Original equipment isn't worth the headache if the car wont start half the time!
-patched up the engine compartment wiring harness
-new pitman arm and all new control arm bushings
-plugs/wires/rotor/cap
-new air cleaner pie pan (paddockparts.com)
-new clutch linkage: z-bar service kit and clutch rod service kit (paddockparts.com)
Upcoming projects in order of how likely I am to start/finish:
-Ignition lock tumbler needs to be replaced
-Gotta do something with the fuel tank vent line in the engine compartment that isn't connected to anything...any suggestions?
-all new shocks. If you think the body roll is bad normally, try driving with bad shocks!
-Radio/antenna/speakers. I like listening to the engine, but my passengers get bored sometimes.
-window weatherstripping
-pull the heater core and repair/replace
-fix the rust in the trunk, or more likely, replace the trunk floor.
-New tires (could get bumped to the top of the list unexpectedly!)
-And finally, maybe one day I'll get a paint job. Probably not.
