I have a 1972 charger and i was wondering if 71-74 chargers have interchangeable parts? Such as lower quarter panels, fenders, trunk lid, rockers, doors and interior parts pretty much anything

For what it's worth I've done a lot of looking at 71-74 chargers and from what I have found 71-72 are different enough from 73-74 in body that nothing I can tell will interchange. As to parts under the skin I think there are not many that will drop in without modification. I think modification is key word here but I am interested to see what others have to say on this subject. There are for sure big differences in 71-72 and 73-74. I have had both 73 and 74 chargers and they are same car with small option differences and I'm betting 71-72 are the same way.

I bet some stuff there is outdated and need to be updated, but the bassis is still there  |

Ok thank you, the big differences you can see are they changed the 2 back window instead of being roll down they were just vent looking the inside of the grill looks be different same with taillights but as far as interior the look to be close only reason im asking is because im in the process of redoing mine and there are 74 parts cars everywhere by me but no 71s or 72s

Not too long ago I replaced the front and rear floorboards to a 1971 charger. When I looked at a 1972 Charger I found that the rear seatbelt bolts are located in a different location than a 1971 Charger. In 1971 the rear seatbelt mounts (where you bolt them into) is in a lower location. It is actually part of the rear floorpan. The 1972 Charger seatbelt mounts much higher. I don't know if they changed the location of the mounts in 1972 because they may have realized that as the floorboards rust the strength of the seatbelt mounts may be compromised. Who knows??
The moral that I learned is do not assume 1971 and 1972 Charger parts are interchangeable and assume even less when comparing them to the 1973 and 1974 parts.

nice find! Now I can understand why the diff lower rear panel cut for 71s and 72s on seatbelt retractor area!
this makes ALL 71/74 rear lower panels ( plastic trim ) totally diff for diff reasons on each year... although 71 trough 73 will interchange easily with minor look and mods jobs
