Dave...say goodbye to Suh. I think he is a natural fit for the silver and black. I thought it was ridiculous that Detroit kept posturing as if they "might" franchise him at $26 million. He wants to be the highest paid defensive lineman in football. I don't consider that position so critical to pay that kind of $$. Shady McCoy just got traded to the Bills.

Looks like Suh will be signing with the Dolphins for 6 years, 114 million, and 60 million guaranteed. Sorry....but that is a horrible signing. Yes, he is a very good/great player.....but you can't spend 20% of your cap on a defensive tackle. Quarterback? Yes....defensive tackle? No Seems like the Lions gave him a similar offer. No state income tax in Florida probably becomes a factor. Frankly, I don't think any defensive player should make more than J.J. Watt. Randall Cobb resigned with the Packers for 4 year/40 million. Smart man. He likely could have got a little more money from Jacksonville or Oakland.....but catching passes from Aaron Rodgers and winning apparently was more important.

Yeah, I'm with you Tom. It's just too much money. We'll miss him for sure, but you can't bankrupt your team to keep one player.

Dave, for chits and grins I did a little "research". I wanted to get some idea how important to the Lions defense Suh is/was. As far as points allowed, the Lions defensive rankings (based on points allowed) since Suh was drafted... 2010 19th of 32 2011 23rd 2012 27th 2013 15th 2014 3rd Despite having the "best" defensive tackle in football, most of those years, they were middle of the pack or worse. In 2008 and 2009, the 2 years before he was drafted...they were dead last. So, what happened in 2014 to make them among the best? I think there was a coordinator change? I think my only conclusion is that to pay one guy that kind of money, you have "go cheap" in several other spots. Solidifying one area while weakening 3-4 others is probably bad strategy. I was watching the NFL network last night, "top ten free agent busts" Number one was "all the signings by the Redskins"

Sounds like an OK deal to me. Column: As far as Plan Bs go, Detroit Lions nailed it by trading for Haloti NgataMLIVE

Dave, I guarantee that I won't miss Haloti pummeling Big Ben twice a year. Like Suh, if you don't double team him, somebody is going to get hurt.

I didn't see that coming. Well....while there was no question that the Steelers were not going to bring him back, there was some speculation that he might go elsewhere.
