Very Nice! I was wondering why you needed a new 440 when you already had a fresh one in the Bee??!! That looks yummy!

Here are my 452 results. Not quite what I expected, but I am sure some tweaking could find some more power? Shorty's help the torque but hurt the HP as expected. Overall it should be a healthy street engine.

Man, look at those torque numbers though...that thing ought to pull like a freight train, and all the way to redline!

Yeah torque is right about where I expected it to be. The HP was about 20 shy though I thought. But a 500 HP street engine is no slouch.

Nothing wrong with 500 horse! LOL
I see the top chart is at 34* timing, and the second at 32* (and lost a few horse). Was anything more than 34* tried?
Also, in the top chart with the 34* timing, horsepower is still climbing at the top rpm on the chart (5395 rpm). Was a greater redline explored?
I'm not trying to sound knowledgeable...I'm not. Just asking a couple of questions.

In regards to timing, the upper HP was still climbing but lower torque was starting to fall. With the intended use of the engine the sweet spot in timing will be in that 32-33 range. The upper RPM was only taken to that point as valve train started to become unstable at that point. We could hear it as the engine pulled, so a couple of reasons that could be. Worn lifter bores. This cam did pull to 5800 in my 511 which could suggest tighter lifter to bore fit in that block. I may have the preload on the lifter too tight? Comp Pro Magnum lifters run best at basically 0 pre-load. So I will have to recheck my adjustment. The shop was nice enough to squeeze me in at their busy season. So I didn't want to waste the day and $ on testing that I can do now that I have a base. I know it's a 500 + engine. Just need to spend some test and tune time with it.

Thanks for the info. Just trying to read the charts, think, and learn. It's the thinking part that's the hardest!
