I might be able to find a decent used one. E-mail me at quapman@aol.com for pics. They're too big to put here and lunch is over!

NOTICE: I sent AMD a message yesterday... Below is what I received back... so everyone relax.....they are still going to be making the quarters and the hood because I asked in my email;
To whom it may concern.... I read on Face book that a person supposedly called many different AMD distributors to purchase full quarters for his 1971 Dodge Charger and he was told that they didn't have any in stock and that AMD was not going to be making any more and also the production of the 71-74 Charger rally hoods my not be available to the public. Is this information true?
and I got back;
Gary,
Neither one of those statements is true. If that person did call up here, we simply told him that we did not have a production date on those yet. Those are in our production que with our factory, but the were just entered into the que as of last week. So we are making them, but it will probably be at least a few months before we have them in stock again.
As for the rally hoods, those will certainly be available to anyone who wants to buy one. They’ve been approved for production, we’re just waiting on the first batch at this point. We’re hoping to have them sometime in July.

Off topic but similar case
I got the same answer from turbostart when I asked for the AGM 27 group batteries 2 years ago. They were to be available on July last year. Still waiting

Well.. I am sure they want to make as many as they can while the dies are good. It's expensive to make the dies..

Thanks go to glr for making the effort of contacting AMD. Hopefully the answer they gave is indeed correct. The time frame of availability- months- is that 2, 12, or 24?

I'm glad you found someone with the item in stock. We'd love to see some progress picks if you have the time.

Off topic but similar case I got the same answer from turbostart when I asked for the AGM 27 group batteries 2 years ago. They were to be available on July last year. Still waiting Turbo start no longer carries classic car batteries, at least for Mopars. They sold their entire inventory (I was told) to Summit and Mancini. I have seen a few places at Carlisle that still can get them but to order one on line the only place left is Antique Auto Battery. www.antiqueautobattery.com/
