Seriously Thinking About going to Fuel Injection System

Need everyones opions on this. Seriously thinking about getting rid of the carb setup and going to a Fuel Injection setup. Tired of the bogging, hesitation issues. Have a 73 340 4bbl, have rebuilt the carb(edlebrock 650 cfm - model 1406), replaced the accelerator pump, plugs and wires done, had the fuel line and gas tank cleaned out, timing checked, replaced the fuel filter. This issue has been going on for the last 2 years. When cold and running on the highway, its fine. At a light or stop anywhere, thats when the bogging/hesitation and sometimes stalling occur. If outside temps get warm, it gets worse. Is it worth the expenses to install a fuel injection setup? I know it will cost probably 2-3k and have never had to go this route before but have heard positive things about doing this. Would appreciate all your constructive thoughts, pros/cons on this. I am right there with you Henry. My full intention was for all of my Mopars to keep their carbs, Holley for the Duster and TQs for the 400 and 340. I love the TQ.

But these TBI style systems have gotten so affordable, and the improvement in drive-ability is so great, I don't think I'll be able to resist converting.

And I was just watching this last night.

There may be better deals. But they are heavily china made (ie: Fitech), and their tech support does not have a good reputation from what I've read. The Holley and FAST systems do.

WOW! That Sniper kit really looks good. After reading the Hot Rod article, I am very sure I will be going this route along with the Lokar cable setup. Gotta save a couple of grand$$

Well........after reading many articles and talking to car guys and different mechanics, I took the plunge and invested in the installation of a new EFI system on the Charger. Got the FiTech 30003 Go Street 400 HP set-up. Had my mechanic friend install it. When he completed the install, took it for a ride and I was extremely * ** . Now I don't have to be stressed at every stop or light. Oh....The wife loves how it takes off.

Great ! How does performance compare to before? Is it just a starting improvement ? From what Ive read, the system has to learn and adjust. Has it improved over time?

Got the Command Center set-up. Asks a few questions as to HP, engine size, stock or modified, etc. There is a new electric fuel pump in the tank with 2 filters on the fuel line, new return line, 62-lb injectors, pressure regulator, throttle position sensor, coolant temp sensor, new O2 sensor welded onto the exhaust, new coil and MSD and some more good stuff that I still need to read up on. Once the engine is turned on, it starts to fine tune itself. I'm learning as much as I can from my mechanic friend that installed it. Definitely a difference from the old carb. I know folks have been asking price and it was $2,800 for everything.
