Is there a simple easy method to stop a small oil leak for the head gasket? I have a little leak at the back of the engine on the passenger side. It wouldn't be so bad if it did not drip on the exhaust pipe when running. I hate that smell. I'm trying not to have to change out the head gasket since it is a very small leak. If I have to, it would be the 2nd time in 13 years. I know these have a tendency to dry up since these cars don't get to be driven as much. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys.

That's what I thought at first, but it looks more like the head gasket has the leak. I have new valve covers in a box and I just may try that first and see. Someone mentioned Bars Leak for Head Gaskets but I'm not sure I want to try that. Not on these old cars.

I can't imagine a head gasket would leak oil as there is just a passage to drain the oil back to the sump and it not under pressure. The head would have to be quite loose. I'd check the exposed bolts to see if they're loose. If you're going to change out the valve covers then re-torque the head. Where is the oil sending unit on the 340, on the back? If so have you checked that?
