Well, I'm gonna post all the info I have collected about seatbelts setups and changes made allong the 3rd gen production. This also will talk about EVERYTHING was changed due the diff seatbelt setups like electrical parts and interior parts. Must to say I can be wrong on some details, since is not actually confirmed information based on official bulletins, BUT just based on observation allong all these years I have been involved on my car resto and into the Mopar world. If you have something to add, just go ahead.
1971 ( or first mid half year procuction at least )
By 1971 in front we had two diff seatbelts for each driver and passenger seats. These were with a retractor for a lap belt with a male end, which will buckle into a female buckle. The shoulder belt was a manually adjustable belt male end clipped to the roof. This belt would buckle into an extra female buckle. So we had then two female buckles for each seat ( benchs the same ). Cars with arm rest and bench got a single manually adjustable belts for the middle seat.
here we have an stripped roof with the shoulder belt for 71.
You can check the male end for it.
Is hard to find pic of bench cars with all the belts spreaded out for the pic, but on this we can check the male end used for the center passenger, and its matched female buckle with the passenger side area setup. for whatever reason one of thedrivers female is not here. Same as the rear bench, for center passenger the female belt is the adjustable one. ALTHOUGHT it seems the rest of them get some adjustment too even the lap belt being with retractor and shoulder being adjustable too.
But here we can see the 5 female belst setup... and the male retractor on floor
For rear, we had everything manually adjustable ( no retractors anywhere ). On this I still have not exact information about which one is the adjustable belt ( male or female ).
by this pic, I can check the adjustable belt is the female one, being a male fixed end, just like was made on earlier setups
What parts are involved with this seatbelt setup:
-CONSOLE
They got a big opening on rear to female buckles storaging ( I think I just found one pic of the belts storaged there but never saved the pic ).
On this consoles not just the top section is diff, but also the bottom, with ribs to hold the buckles
this consoles are also diff on how attach both halfs between them ( BTDT ). Screws match but they are fastened kinda diff. Using fasteners ( U nuts ) on mounting tabs instead "towers". Those who have deal with this will understand.
REAR LOWER DOOR PANEL
It covers completelly the interior sheet metal with just some cut outs for the male seat belt end ( no retractor )
SEATBELT WARNING SYSTEM
I have found some cars could not have got the warning system light, but those what got it, it was controled by the same ign light courtesy light time flasher. On diagram is shown the full optioned panel, But I remarked the wiring just related to the flasher controled lights.
The seatbelt light panel looks like this ( and you will understand why I'm showing this on a next post ). One wire is riveted to the light housing.
this setup also uses a bayonet bulb, not wedge bulb!
Of course, without the low fuel light setup ( Aid package ), the ground wire runs to the same plug, not a diff like shown on diagram.
AS A PLUS INFO:
if you wanna know what consist the driver aid package ( low fuel warning light ) here is:
THIS IS AN ONLY 71 OPTION
