Thank you for letting me join your forum. (seems I am currently unable to load any pictures on this post, rest assured pictures will be coming soon)
My story, back in 1989 I got my first 1973 Dodge Charger SE Brougham.
One of my friends I met while serving in the Army at Ft. Bragg, he was an Airman at Pope AFB, owned it and I fell in love with that car. We, along with several other friends, hung out doing car stuff, playing games, chasing women, and basic things that bored 20 something military personal do. My buddy got out of the military and sold me that beautiful black and white Charger, I loved that car.
Then I met my, at the time future ex-wife...
I was setting things up to do a full restoration of the Charger and had found a great donor body to do a full running gear swap into while the original body was to be restored. ( I was young and bloody clueless, like y'all never were... )
I had not even begun the work when my future ex convinced me to sell the car, "we don't need a two door car, we are having a family, you need to grow up and take responsibility, you need to stop chasing stupid dreams..." you get the picture.
Well being that dumb and not fully thinking with the correct brain...I sold my beloved black and white 1973 Dodge Charger SE Brougham... back to the Air Force buddy who had sold it to me originally.
He was elated to have his old ride back, I was heart broken to loose the car. BUT at least it went to a place I knew it would be cared for.
Roll on about 7 to 8 years, three kids, two mortgages, three junker cars, an ETS from the Army and no idea what I would be doing for work later... my now ex-wife filed for divorce, she had been sleeping around, you know the drill... I got the typical smack down from the courts... TA-DAH!!!
Met another woman about a year later, bankrupt, holding a good job, barely making ends meet.
Got cancer in 2010, surgery to remove cancer in 2011, new wife gets a 1973 Dodge Charger setup behind my back as I was recovering. (She is worth all the gold plus in the solar system)
The car was to be painted before she picked it up... the tow driver didn't secure the load... totaled the car, totaled completely. (My wife was so upset she didn't tell me about it for almost a year.)
Life continued on, never forgot either of the Chargers. Always looking and seeking to find a good one to have and build on.
Situations suddenly allowed for the opportunity really find one again.
A beautiful blue and white 1973 Dodge Charger SE Brougham came available and now I have my dream car to work on, drive about, and enjoy again.
Thank you for allowing me the long tale.
