As I mentioned somewhere, dunno if this thread or some other talking about the same. This seal is not a quality piece, just a piece that... "works" ( to fill the gap, LOL ), so, if original is AT LEAST in regular shape or useable even not pretty, keep it. BTDT.
Once installed you will notuce the seal doesn't seal anymore against the door glass. The metallic insert/reinforcement is not wide enough to keep the seal in place against the glass. Another problems are also on these seals, like when rolling up or down the glasses and seal wrinkles up on bottom, althought the last set I got ( not installed yet ) seems to get corrected this making it "more similar" to the original one. Will know it better when reassembling my car ( if ever happens ).

I suspect there is some high quality Chinese manufacturing at play here. Or perhaps there is a special trick I don't know, like installing the rubber caps on riding lawnmower axles with heat. Either this isn't manufactured right, or I'm not installing it the right way. edit - well, being in the house didn't help any. I can't budge it at all now. I mean, it's meant for horses, but it should work on people too, right?

The metallic reinforcement seems plenty wide though, like that's why it's so hard to get the strip on. Maybe they tried to fix the problem and overshot the mark. DynoDave - I'm not saying I'm the incredible hulk, but I'm not at the other end of the scale either. I'm putting enough force into it that I'm worried about breaking it. I'm surprised that little bit of channel at the bottom hasn't folded over.

Sure it touchs the glass covering same surface than original one but doesn't actually SEAL on the full word meaning. You could notice it whe times comes to wash the car with a hose and apply some water pressure

Well it's a moot point because I can't move it any further. Maybe I can put the top part in a vice and pull it out.

Didn't have a problem with mine and I have extremely arthitic hands. I used a lot of silicone. Fits well and seems to seal just fine. Only issue I have is after replacing that, the roof rail seal and outer windowfelt the window won't roll down unless I open the door. Hoping after sitting all winter it "sets" and gets better.

I'm surprised that little bit of channel at the bottom hasn't folded over. I don't have a lot of hand strength left, compared to my youth. Also have some nerve issues (or something) that leaves my arms half numb and tingling after doing certain chores (hold a paint brush, it's repetitive motion, and work with my arm elevated really sets that off). So I was just teasing about the strength thing. It would make me nervous as heck working with a piece of glass, and trying to wrestle this thing onto it in the manner you describe.

I ordered a different brand of weather seal, which I think is the brand CDN72SE has. Have to check the packaging again but they've got the shorter tail his have and "VS-7F" sounds familiar. I lubed one up and it slid on easy enough. They're just tight enough to be a solid mount. I believe the rubber is thicker where it comes out of the mount, and thinner where it folds over to make the seal. I recall the Detroit Muscle weather strips being thin in both areas. That would explain why Nacho couldn't get a good seal from them.

aside the seal thickness, is the inner metal reinforcement width. Diff is really NOTICEABLE with the original
