I've been stuck on this problem for a while. I've been planning to upgrade my 8 1/4 to 8 3/4 axles cut for 29 splines, and use an aftermarket 29 spline differential. I want to make sure that there are no other differences between the pre-97 and post-97 rear ends than the spline count (27 vs 29). As far as I can tell, there are no other differences, but I'm hoping to find someone that knows for sure.
Let me say in advance that I've been told to build something else a few times, but my goal is light and efficient, using as many of the original parts as possible. I don't want to build a 1000hp, 4500 lb car and have half of my original car packed into every corner of the garage when I'm done.
