Apparently this was a rare option for 68-70 - Many of the 68-70 cars that did not have the shoulder belt option, still had the slot in the package tray for the belt, and I've seen a few owners buy the hardware and put the shoulder belt in. I've been looking into doing it, but my 72 doesn't have the slot for the shoulder belt - I've been looking at newer B-bodies, but have yet to see one with a shoulder belt. Even early 80's Cordobas don't have the rear shoulder belt. I was hoping the design changed and the retractor moved to a position on top of the package shelf, although that would be a rather sloppy approach. But it appears that there just wasn't any option for a rear shoulder belt at all. Has anybody seen one in a 3rd gen Charger (or later B-body?)

Not I. It would be an interesting conversion.

I suppose the easiest way to do it would be to find a 68-70 package shelf with the hole for the belt, cut that section out and weld it into our package shelf. That's more than I want to tackle.
Someone raised the concern that any such change to the vehicle would create legal liability in the case of an accident. It might come to pass that you have a diabolical mind riding in the back and a few days after a wreck they show up with a neck brace and a million dollar law suit. I wonder what an insurance company would say about this mod? If they don't approve it up front it likely would be all the excuse they need to duck out of covering a claim.
