Hello All, I previously was running an almost stock 318, with no fan shroud and was using 6 blade 17.5 inch flex fan. It is originally an A/C car but all the A/C stuff is gone. Was also using a spacer. Just got my stock 26' radiator restored by Glen-ray, went with the 3-row max cooling option. Need help deciding what fan to buy, someone mentioned to me a clutch fan from Tony's Parts? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm guessing it's gonna come down to your personal taste since there are a few great options out there. I would stay away from the Dorman brands. For some reason they burn out faster than most. I'd give Tony a call and see what he would recommend. Currently I have a Hayden mechanical and so far no issues. Have you thought about going electrical. A mechanical fan will only spin as fast as the engine is spinning. That means you have a higher chance of overheating in traffic when the engine is at idle, plus it drain power from the engine. With an electric, the fan will only turn on as needed. It will free up horsepower, give you faster warm ups, faster cool downs, and more consistent engine temps. My next one is gonna be electrical. Good luck. Your engine looks great by the way!

I'm a "fan" of clutch fans. If there's a correct repro of a factory aluminum fan to go with the clutch, I'd go that route myself.
Got a shroud?

Thanks hanks73340. Yes Dave I do have a fan shroud. Never had one before.
I watched this video and may go this route.

I had to replace my clutch last year. Went with one from Rockauto. Much more inexpensive than a repro and I think it was a Hayden brand. Using the stock original fan and a shroud. Works great and car has AC.

I've always used a fan with a clutch and never had overheating issues. I tried the electric fans before anyone made the shrouds for them, they didn't work great just mounted directly to the radiator without a shroud so I removed them. The part I really liked about them was eliminating the screaming fan noise when you rev the engine. Only having the fans come on when needed was a great idea.
