So I've been trying to nail down the body bumper sets for the 71-74 B bodies. The devils in the details and I'm trying to nail any differences in the ash tray bumpers over the 5 years. I've received literally hundreds of samples over the past few years. It looks like 2 of the mushroom head with the long skinny tail were used as the ash tray stop on 72-74. Were 71's different? I have a smaller bumper with a very small dome & thick tail that was bagged as a 71 ash tray bumpe. The combined 70/71 parts manual is even worse than the other individual years and doesn't list 71 R/W ash tray bumpers. Also was there an overtravel or stop bumper similar to the one used on the glove box overtravel arm? I'd include pictyure but received a notice that the forums attachment file limit was reached.

Welcome. Pictures need to be hosted elsewhere then post the link here. One problem with the bumper kits is they never seem to be correct. The fender to hood bumpers in the complete kit I bought were nothing like what was originally on my car. I can't answer your question as I haven't replaced the ash tray bumpers in mine.

Hey Jim! Welcome to the forum.
I'm DynoDave on Moparts, and we've met many times over the years. I see you every year at the WPC winter swap meet as well.
I hope we can help answer your question. Mine is a '72, so I'm no help to you on this one. FYI...those bumpers were still in use on the later B-bodies (Cordoba, Magnum, Charger SE, etc.) to the end of production in '79. I have some in my ;77 Cordoba.
I'm working on the photo hosting issue, but it's a slow process, and I probably won't have that up and running for a month or so yet. I'm sending you a PM, so please check that.

I don't know that Jim owns a '71 or not, or any B-body. But the DMT in his username is Detroit Muscle Technologies, which he owns. He's a great guy. If you run into him at our WPC Winter Swap Meet (or any other), be sure to stop and say hello.
Looks to me like he's working on these parts.

Oh, I get it. That's were the "hundred of samples" comes from. I bought my Top Cat Whiskers and other seals from him. Jim, if you need some pics my '71 was very original and the ash tray bumpers haven't been changed. And I think there is something on the over travel.
