Yeah, I think I'd stay away from silicones myself. Permatex makes many sealants. This one looks promising. www.permatex.com/products/thread-compounds/thread-sealants/permatex-high-temperature-thread-sealant-6-ml/" Product Description Permatex’s High Temperature Thread Sealant locks and seals threaded fittings. Resists leakage, vibration loosening, moisture, hydraulic fluids and diesel fuels. This high-temperature thread sealant lubricates threads for easy assembly and disassembly. Won’t shred or wear like Teflon tape. Parts may be repositioned up to 4 hours after application. Temperature range -65°F to 400°F (-54°C to 204°C). Contains PTFE. " "Suggested Applications Head bolts into through holes, oil PSI sending units and sensors, oil and coolant lines, fuel fittings, rear axle fill plug, brake, and power steering fittings" "I like the Head bolts into through holes" reference. To me that means critical fasteners into a water passage. Personally, I'd contact them to be sure. www.permatex.com/contact/

Ha! Your engine is blue and the pump is orange. When I bought my car the engine was orange and the pump was blue. Figured someone pulled a pump outta the junkyard for a repair.

Hi, all of my engine would be orange if I had my way ... I'm not sure there's enough wind in my sails for that, but time will tell Your engine looks pristine ... great job Thanks/Dennis

Nice work Dennis. What product did you end up using on the threads?

Hi, all of my engine would be orange if I had my way ... I'm not sure there's enough wind in my sails for that, but time will tell Your engine looks pristine ... great job Thanks/Dennis Those pics I posted were when I had replaced the timing chain trying to cure the running issue. The engine was filthy so the front and top was cleaned and painted. The issue wasn't fixed and a year later the engine was pulled for a rebuild. Engine bay was detailed and looked like new after. After 4,000 miles, not so much anymore but still looks good!
