looking to get the front and rear edge hood moldings and need to know what are the diffences between the years.

FRONT, YES.
REAR same curve but not same profile between 71/72 and 73/74. will fit but won't match with the rest ( rear of fender and then top of door moldings )

71 - 72 are smooth & kinda narrow. Aren't the later ones stepped & wider?

Yes, these are indeed different as brock stated. Plus, 71/72 are stainless while 73/74 are aluminuminum. (We likes our extry sylabalals here in NC)
I thought he meant rear deck lid moldings which I believe are the same.
We gots it now.

I like the way the Brits say aluminum al- U-min e-um. I also like to add a few extra sylables too So it comes out like it tastes good too: al-U-min-e-um-e-um-um-um I could post a pic of the 72 rear hood trim on my car if needed. Could use bigger bricks to keep the cover in place anyway ;D
