This would be the picture Nacho. The bracket shown here with the 2 holding studs. My bracket does not come close to the holding studs. I am also missing the white plastic pieces that the studs sit in but that is not my problem at the moment. The only thing holding my steering column up is one of the stud washers barely touching the end of the bracket. One good bump while driving and the whole column will fall a few inches.

that is a 71 car. that same bracket was used up to 73, with a third attaching point not visible at pic. Attaches close to brake pedal braces and stuff. 74 only used those two attaching points, making a smaller bracket, but everyone interchangeable though. The complete column can be moved in and out up to meet the studs... BUT need to be adjusted. Coupler has a middle point then need to check if rest of parts are on right position. Check the colapsible columnn shield ( the one that looks like a net ) AND also check if steering column halfs are on righ position. Remember the shaft is two pieces one inside the other to colapse in case of an accident. Plastic pieces SLIDES in to the bracket locations up to get the right position and when tighten they close against the bracket to fit the position, so IS an important part really

I was just about to post that 71-2 columns are not the same length as 73-4 columns. I distinctly remember having a problem with attempting a 73 into a 72 swap 12-13 years ago. The result being that my black 72 is now buckets, aftermarket floor shifter but still has a column shift column with the shift handle removed................................something I really need to change. However, I just walked out to one of my buildings and compared a known 72 column to a known 73 column and they in fact do appear to be of the same overall length. I don`t think I have ever seen a 71-74 b body with manual steering. Not saying that they do not exist, just that they must be somewhat uncommon. my 71gtx is manual steering. 4speed car
