DynoDave: I saw this article, and thought it might interest some here. Peg Locks A pegboard with a series of different hooks is a very useful thing to have in one’s garage or workshop, but the biggest frustration in using it is that the hook will, more often than not, come out and fall to the floor when the tool is removed. Peg locks are ingenious little plastic gizmos that cover over the hook, keeping it attached. Two flanges fit into the adjacent holes, which are generally not being used for anything else, anyway. They work with both 1/4- and 1/8-inch pegboards. Peg Locks $3 (package of 25) Manufactured by The Lehigh Group Available from Amazon

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the minimum spacing clearance needed behind the pegboard so that the hooks can be inserted and removed? I know you can't just "butt-up" the pegboard against plywood or drywall, that there has to be some clearance, I've just never known how much.

Didn't the old "How To" books show a 1" x 1" spacer? I wouldn't think less than 1/2" prudent.

I think hardware store sell a small rubber spare that goes on the back side of the board, then the mounting screws go through. There will keep the board off the wall. I used blocks of 2x2 IIRC.
