I went down to buy a 3/8" drive air ratchet, been wanting one for a while, and I had in mind the Craftsman with the aluminum (?) body.
Well my local Orchard Supply Hardware just got sold by Sears to
an independent company, so they are fazing out Craftsman tools.
The only one left was a demo, no box, no papers and at first they didn't want to sell me it for just those reasons.
I lucked out and found a salesman who is a retired cop I know, and he ended up cutting the cable securing the thing, and sold it to me for 69 bucks less 15% for being a demo, less another 15% for a store wide sale, and then NO TAX for President's Day, or something like that.....pretty good deal, huh?
I thought so until I went to Harbor Freight, who was having a HUGE "we're relocating to a new location by the freeway" sale, and had their Central Pneumatic 1/2 inch drive air ratchets for 16.99 plus tax....it was so cheap, I bought the 1 year warranty for 5.95 which means I can exchange it no questions asked for 1 year instead of the usual 90 days.
Sooooooo, LET THE TEST BEGIN.....which one will crater first?
As far as possible, I am going to try to use them equally, beginning tomorrow, and we'll find out if good old Yankee engineering and know-how (yeah right, like THEY'RE not made in China too!!) with the Craftsman name can outlast the "inferior" Harbor Freight China brand.
Just thought I'd share that with ya'all.
...AND THESE:
Oh yeah, and I bought a 3" high speed air cutter for $6.87....didn't
even bother getting the extended warranty on it!!
Do I have some interesting Posts or what?!!
