I can't remember which member I saw pics from that had one of these things in their garage but I definitely stole this idea and made one for myself. I used the el'cheapo moving cart on sale for $12 from Menard's and a few chunks of 6x6 I had laying around to stiffen it up. 3" screws through the bottom of the moving cart to hold it all together and then set the 318 on it and then had my 12 year old son push it in the corner just to see how easy it was to move.

I'm glad you posted that, Cory, I was just getting to the point of racking my Al Z. Heimer brain to remember how that was done. By the by....I believe it was Dean the Infamous "Buzzrider" that first posted his up, only I THINK he used 2x6's.... I THINK!! (therefore I AM !!) OH.... What was the spacing in between the wood that allowed you to catch the oil pan rails?

A very handy item to have around. After we get the specifics Jer asked for, maybe this should move to the TOOL area?

I did the same thing except with tool box wheels. Rolled a 440 with 727 trans around the garage no problems!

Yep, that was me Jer. You can see it in my sig. My engine builder showed me that. That is what they put the motor on to move it around the shop. I do not remember the dimensions and the box is at my cousins so i can't measure it.
Glad to see it helped somebody else. ;D

the dolly itself measures 18"x30" and I left 9" open in the middle (I had to let the 6x6's hang over each side about 1" to do this).
with a 9" opening in the center, the 318 oil pan fit with a bit of room to spare. not sure if this would need to be bigger for a big block.
I'm certain with a bit of forethought, this could be designed a bit better but I needed something quick and this fit the bill. ;D

I don't know what controlled substance you've been smoking NOW, Dyno, but the Tool area is where this thread (and the REST of us) have been all along!! (Are you hiding another tool area over in your Chrysler Corner that we don't know about?)

I have serious doubts about Dave's ability as a Mod..... So do I, but the American Disabilities Act practically forced me to find a position for him... What's a forum owner to do, Steve? [Laugh now, Canuck.....you're probably in line to be part of the next batch of Fresh Meat on the chopping block!!] #trainwreck# Back On Topic [BOT]: I'm going down to Home Depot tonight and get me some of them 6x6x8 boards!! #2Thumbs#
