My 74 had the spots where you mounted it and it looked like where brackets were that would hold it up...but like you my radiator overflow just ran down the side of the rad. But judging from my own car it seems fairly legit.

My '72 didn't have one when I got it, and I'm not sure if it had one when new..... My '69 didn't have one either, and didn't appear to ever have one.... I do plan on possibly putting one on my '72 one of these days though...

Mine is a 72 SE as well. No catchcan. No California specs either. Went to a car show yesterday (Forgot camera & no 3rd gens anyway ) There was a 66 mustang with a factory smog pump on the 289. California specs are certainly different. A 66 289 with smog??? I never heard of that before
