did a 1971 dodge charger rt 440 come with a brass gas filter bolted to the block with the gas pump?

#umno# They were metal (silver) w/blue lettering. Later on, the lettering changed to black. Most of the repop's have black lettering but I think someone is making them with the earlier blue lettering now. I just don't recall who... Under the black paint they're a brown metal (copper/brass/ ).

you seem to know about these gas filters but people tell me the one i have have on my car is nor origanial i have owend this car since 1973 and i never changed the gas filter is it origanial?

Wow, you started young. According to your profile your 40 so you have owned the Charger since you were 3? Can you post a pic of your fuel filter?

i sorry my dad owned the car and gave to me 4 years ago it sat in his garage for 24 years and the motor only has 17,000 miles on it. i will see if i can figue out how to put a pic of the filter on hear.

The filter i have is the last on you posted it is a fuel vapor separator it is bolted to the block with the fuel pump is this original ?

It's not a filter, it's a vapor separator. Two different functions. Yes, all the HP 440's & 426 big blocks had vapor separators to help prevent vapor lock.
