Filler necks different?

Yes, they are different. As you might guess, the 71-72 neck is a little shorter.

Bob- I dont have an inexhaustible supply of filler necks, so you might want to shorten yours with an torch. Always work safely, wear safety glasses, and keep a fire extinguisher handy.



Just kidding Bob. When I find another 71-72 b body in a JY, I`ll grab you a filler pipe too. I looked in my crystal ball and can now predict this will happen in approximately 2 weeks.

Tom suggested a cutting torch and remove a little metal. I'm headed out now and trying it. I will let you know how it turns out.

I guess there is another solution that probably would work and with less and custom job... weld the bracket a little bit higher and insert deeper on tank the neck..

I guess I spoke too fast. All the extra filler necks that I have are 73-74. Looks like I must have sold the extra 71-72 necks I had.
