no one better than charger440sixpac to explain it... ( because he has been searching for the correct Charger unit since... ever (Laughing Out Loud) ) as I can see it drives 3 positive sources... one BATT other ACC and the other one lights wire ( green ). my guess is once he senses the power from ACC is cut, keeps the green wire powered from the batt source. The green wire is the one what keeps light working as far the BATT source is not cut by the relay itself... HOWEVER I can't see the RUN circtuit involved on this, even less making some relation with Hideaways net. PLUS... AS FAR I remember, the GREEN wire on underdash harnes only have ONE splice provision ( barrel/bullet kind ), that my guess it is for hideaways relay OR delay relay, BUT NEVER BOTH AT THE SAME TIME so, I can think, they can't be together on same car, never designed and not able to work. To work together, the relay should also feed the BLUE wire to the hideways relay. I think It could be modified though... have to analize it.

I was thinking that was where one of the 16lgn wires went of the right side of the graphic.

the 16lgn wires is the wire what gets into the floor dimer switch and that's the splice what sources the delay relay or the hideaways relay but not both. I can't recall two splices with bullet terminals like that allong the light green wire from dash to floor switch. If it was posible as a matter of just plug both devices, sure the harness would provide two sources for both functions, but they didn't.
to make it work, the delay relay should be able to close the doors at the time the lights comes off, and should be able to trigger the hideaways relay somehow closing the doors.
Beside that, to open or close the hideaways, you need to keep key in RUN, since the RUN circuit is the one what feeds the doors motor. Once you remove the key, you already shutt off the RUN circuit, for a while the delay relay should remain the lights on, directly from battery, via Relay, SO, even the lights will shut off, the door will remain open ( what By the way, thats the step to headlights service... key in RUN, turn on the lights, Key to OFF, turn off the lights )
another detail I can see, the green wire going to relay works both ways... first excites the delay relay, then once turned off the headlights switch, this wire is energized FROM the delay relay

Senõr Nacho is correct. I checked the wiring diagrams and power to the Rotating Headlamp Door Relay & Circuit Breaker Assy. is supplied from the Ignition Run circuit. So the delay relay will 'play well' with the caveat that the doors will remain open after the headlamps are turned off. In my quest to solve the mystery of the mounting location for the headlamp delay relay, I happened across these photos showing the correct mounting on the dash frame next to the ash receiver - The delay relay is to the right (closer to the glove box) of the door relay.

Thanks for those photos. I can see why having the right bracket is important.
I'll have to give this a go when it's time to wire up my Charger.

I have posted this pic couple fo times, allong with... the first who posted it... I think it was TOM ? not sure... pics what, BY THE WAY LOOKS TO SHOW BOTH DEVICES HOOKED UP... delay relay and hideaways ? If was posible to fit both it means: 1... some of the harnesses ( delay relay or hideaways ) provides an extra provision to keep available one female terminal 2... the headlights doors remain open untill you turn on the car at next day ( feeding run circuit ) what will close the doors once you set back the key in RUN.
