Hey all,
just wondering if anyone has successfully fabbed in power windows or lock into a 3rd gen charger??
I know, I know its not original to the car and takes away from the vintage feel a bit but i think it could be a nice touch.

What year of Charger (and roof style/window style) are you talking about, "Eck"? Are you thinking of power windows for the front and rear of a car that already has rollups, and just upgrading them? Pardon my confusion. Jer.

Sorry for the confusion, i should have explained a bit more in detail.
what i was talking about was upgrading the standard rollups (front and rear) in a 71 charger with power windows and power locks for the doors.
i'm nowhere near doing this by any means, just wondering if anyone has done it or knows of it being done.

Can be done, and has been done.
You can go the "swap the manual parts for the power parts/run the wiring route" to the "buy the complete setup" route...
The first option is just a matter of rounding up all the used parts from Ebay, etc., and the 2nd option means of course spending a lot more money for "new stuff".
(For example, XV Motorsports is selling everything you would need for about 1000 bucks--unless it's changed since last I looked.)
Don't forget to add this into the equation: you would also need to swap your front and rear panels, if you wanted to do it right.
I believe it's the lower set that has the little round hole for the cranks vs. the bigger square hole for the switch/button box. (And the even BIGGER hole in the driver's front for the master switch control box!)
I suppose you could just "waller out" the existing round holes, I don't know for sure.

OOPS... The door locks are and would be a total aftermarket (or other year/model conversion) affair... I don't THINK power door locks were ever an option on 3rd Gens...were they? Jer.

Had to go look to be sure: Yes, you can use your original panels & just open the holes on up till the switches fit. The panels are clearly marked on the backside! I think stock switches & an aftermarket setup would be cool: if only for weight savings & design simplicity.
Door lock actuators will be an aftermarket item for sure.

Power door locks weren't an option, and as far as I know (could be wrong though so don't quote me on this) I don't think dodge on there regular street cars had power door locks back then.... Now as for power windows, yep they had 'em, my '72 has factory power windows front and rear..... It was nice to find such a thing..... Now since your car, I'm assuming, has manual everything in the doors, it would be best if you went all aftermarket, the door motors offered aftermarket, are generaly a stronger motor then what came from the factory (higher torque that is). Door lock stuff, as you know by now, will have to be all aftermarket, unless you figure someway to get some stuff from a junk yard that works, and fab it in......

Yep, I don't think there were very many with them made, but they were an option back then, but I can't think of the fender tag code for them is right off hand, I would go out there and check my tag, but there's a total of three fender tags, two of which have codes, so.... Might take a minute, of wait.... Let me see if they are still posted here.... Why yes it is, including the pic's, here ya go: wichargerguy.proboards101.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=tags&thread=954&page=1#7256It's the P31 code, knew it was P something, but I was thinking P51.... Glad I didn't say it, lol

P51s are Mustangs from the late 30s early 40s aren't they?! LOL I'm actually surprised the P31 code is on the fendertag. Doors must be different in some way?
