State Farm is my main insurance company, been with the same agent for over 25 years. I have had 2 claims and my x had one, (other than glass), and never had an issue. But they have all been newer vehicles like my 2012 GMC that was hit 2 weeks ago. I never give them the estimate from the body shop I use and their adjuster has always paid more than the shop charges me so I get some extra work/upgrades done at the same time.
That being said, I doubt it would go that well with the 72 Charger. I have over $17,000 in receipts for the parts I have put into the car and that doesn't include the labor I pay my employees, (usually my son), who work on it with me and the purchase of the car. Next month when the 72 starts being driven more I will defiantly be talking to Hagerty. A friend had a restored and highly modified 70's Jeep stolen out of his driveway recently and they paid his agreed value with no hassles other than asking why it was out in the driveway. He was painting the inside of the garage at the time so no problem.

Problems with State Farm, oh yeah. I've had them for many years and the only reason I stay is the agent is a friend. I had a near mint 1987 Chysler Lebaron GTC. It burned due to a recall I never received and didn't know about. They would only give me book value no matter how many receipts and pictures I showed them. My agent went to bat as well, they wouldn't budge. Then a few years later I had a 95 loaded AvengerES. Not many miles on it, and my son drove it one day to the repair shop/dealer for, of all things, a recall. Some kid hit him and pushed it into a larger truck stopped at a light. Damaged the front and rear and they totaled the car. Again, great shape and less than 20,000 miles. They gave me book value. They said we're giving me what the car would cost to replace. To which my argument was SHOW me a 95 Avenger in this condition with these options for what you are giving me. Naturally they couldn't but that is what I got anyway. They said take or leave it!!!! As far as classic cars, they would only insure my 67 for book as well. I immediately went with Hagerty. When the day comes State Farm is history for me.

Had to talk to there department that is in charge of processing the paper work for the repair.
They say it has to be repaired to State Farms acceptance
I said it has to be to mine. They are not happy.
If they do not do what I what I am going to turn it in to Hagerty and take my 30 grand

Man, if you have Hagerty, I wouldn't even screw around with it. Call them and tell them what's going on. If they run the claim you'll get less hassles, and the shop of your choice. They can always subregate the claim back to State Farm to get a chunk of their money back.

Spent the entire day on the phone with them today for insurance for my machine shop. I can relate. My business involves going into salvage yards to remove and purchase parts. We were attempting to get Workmans comp insurance. The minute the insurance companies heard that....they were not interested in providing coverage at any price. Very frustrating experience to say the least.

After State Farm was not going to budge, I called my agent and filed a claim with Haggerty today.
Will see what they are willing to do.
Zero deductible. I tried to be nice but State Farm did not want to play fair!

Best way to go. State Farm never budges and is known for not even paying on a court order but burying everything in legal BS. Playing nice with insurance companies is like trying to be nice to a rattlesnake. A waste of time.

Got the car back from the body shop finally. In the trunk you can see the color does not match but on the drivers door you can't tell. Was told when someone paints a car they need to write down all the information about the day, air pressure at the gun, humidity and anything else that might be relevant to spraying paint on the car. Then it can be duplicated down the road. Things that nobody writes or thinks about.
When your car gets hit the insurance company is not going to bring it back to restored quality!
Disappointed but the car is going down the road. Someone will get a nice car though
