Thanks guys. I've had it for near 20 years. I've made a few choices that I cant believe I made. One is I have a set of 7x15" diplomat wheels and a set of dog dish hub caps. I am having the wheels sand blasted as I am typing this and I'm going to paint them mist green this week. I have always loved the look of body color wheels and poverty caps.
The one big decision I've made is, I have everything required to convert it to a 4 speed. The 727 is the only thing about the car that I don't really care for. I just haven't been able to bring myself to cut the car. Last fall the transmission started to slip in 3rd gear and I have had a torque converter issue for a few years now so instead of rebuilding it I'm converting it. I will be making every effort to make it look as original as possible but if asked I wont say it was an original 4 speed car. The data tag tells us it isn't. The guys that knowingly try and pass a car off for something it's not make me crazy! Just be honest and you have all of my respect.
As far as changing it over, It's mine, I'm never going to sell it. If I ever do decide I'm done with enjoying it I'll give it to my son. '73 was the highest production 340 charger year, its not real desirable do to the low HP of '73, and most guys want the 4 speed anyway.
Next winter I plan to rebuild my '68 340 and drop it in place of the original 340 that is in it now. The original engine will go on the shelf with the original 727 and all the automatic parts including the floor pan piece cut for the floor hump and the original carpet set.
I bought the bench seat floor hump from Summit. It is a AMD piece. The 4 speed bench seat carpet set came from Rock Auto. The pistol grip shifter assembly, bell crank, shifter rods and bench seat shifter bracket are E-bay finds (and they are super nice). I bought a competition pluse shifter at the Jefferson WI swap meet last fall. The transmission is one of the 7 or so I have laying around. (its a '70 big block B-Body piece). I'm using a OD bell housing and OD trans bearing retainer (both parts I have laying around), and the rest of the stuff like wiring, dash reverse light, brackets, pedal set, over center spring, pivot balls and bushings, shifter boot and ring, ect came from Brewers Performance.
Brewers Performance, I can't say enough good about these people! Super fast, super honest, extremely nice to deal with and all of the parts are top notch!

Wow, I like the sound of both of those changes. I hope you'll post a build thread as you go through that conversion. I'd love to do that to my car.

I guess I can. I never really thought about doing that. What is the best way to post photos on this sight? Can they be posted straight from your computer or do I need something like flicker? I prefer to post off of my computer if that is at all possible.
Thanks for the complements DynoDave. It has taken years for me to finally pull the trigger on the 4 speed conversion. I bought this car with plans of hot rodding it right away but when I got it home a really started looking at it I couldn't bring myself to cut it. It is so so so original. You can still read Chrysler numbers on the strut rod bushings! It still has the AM radio in it. No one has ever changed a thing on it. Everything I have done up to this point has been bolt on. I have headers and I bent a complete exhaust with an X pipe for it years ago. I also dumped the 3MPH bumperetts. I recurved the distributor years ago too. I worked in a spring fab shop for 14 years. While there I made a new set of rear springs. I sand blasted the bottom leaf for each rear spring and reused them so I would still have the original part #'s on my springs. (Yah, I'm a bit anal). All the original parts are in a box in my garage along with the original 14X5.5 magnum wheels though.

There are 4 Rallye Chargers in Iran as well. One is mine being restored, three others on feet and moving. I try to take some pictures to show.

Wow, that's interesting. Looks like a 3rd gen. of another sort (black Camaro convertible) right next to it.
