well yes, we can add how the single meters are on on basic rallye cluster. No half moons but full circle... with the lettering on gauge, instead on mask ( because got the room for that )... being the reason why the mask doens't have the lettering

Interesting 6pack. The housing on my first 73 had the hole for the oil/gas and was quite swappable for the clock/tach. I can see why you wouldn't be able to do it with the one in the second picture. But that still has nothing to do with the plastic face. And BTW, out of the 73 parts book:

I thought we were discussing the Rallye instrument panel... (BTW, your original post listed a 3746166 instead of a 3740166 ... )

My bad on the typo. I realize you are working really hard to prove me wrong and I guess we will have to agree to disagree because (no offense) I'm done going back and forth on this. I am actually to the point where I am sorry I got into it to begin with because it is not important enough to spend any more time on. You can order 4 gauges because I have ordered all 4 gauges in 78-79 when I worked at a dealership. Fact of the matter is they are interchangeable. Here is more of the page BTW, 73 manual, RW: Giant frogs, giant frogs ... what can I say ... back to you!

Bob, the plastic face difference is just because the lettering on it for the small meters.
this face with the lettering is the same for clock or tach... with tach, gets the plug, with not, well, not. Thats a step you can even make on last minute with cluster allmost ready to be installed on assembly line!!! The idea about make a face with the lettering and no hole makes another extra line of products really unnecesary and easier to solve with that plug... that's all.
if you are an owner with a clock cluster and wants to change for a tach, then makes easier for everybody this, just installing the plug ( which I guess could be available around ? don't know ), keeping untouched the cluster. In fact this gauge is as far I remember able to be changed with cluster in place!... tricky but doable, just removing radio.
