"Need the plug for the clear lens where the tach is.".
Found this in parts wanted. Is there a plastic plug for the clock hole in the lens when used for a tach? I was just going to use a speedo lens till I found somebody that made a set of new lenses.

I don't know if there was a "plug", but didn't those hole have a little "knockout" of plastic, that, if you didn't have a stem (clock), the knockout stayed in place and filled the hole? I could be wrong...it's been a long time since I've seen mine.

There is a small, clear plastic plug that fits into the clock shaft access hole when the factory tachometer was installed in the rallye cluster. I have the one from my cluster somewhere; it's pretty yellowed from age. I was debating whether to transplant a lens from a non-clock/tach mask which doesn't have the hole. Even with the plug, fine dust seems to find it's way into and onto the tach.
If you want some photos, let me know, I'll try to dig up the little rascal.

Wonder why they would do that instead of just putting a full clear lens on?

Thats why I asked. It's one of those things that defy logic. I guess from the factory perspective they only have to stock one lens if it already has the hole. Mine is going to be wrong cause it doesn't have a hole. There's goes my sleep. Tossing and turning and tossing.........

All comes down to economics. For the rallye cluster there are two masks: Speedo, oil & fuel, ammeter, temperature (2985185) Speedo, clock or tach, oil & fuel, ammeter & temperature (2985234) Rather than create a third mask with a different lens for the tach, I'm guessing adding the little plastic plug was simply a cheaper option. Just my guess. The 2985185 mask on its housing -

Just plug it or not if got clock or Tach with a tach cluster you can simply remove tach and add clock ( for whatever reason ) anytime since the husing allows that, without take care of the lenses assembly

Found a good photo of the tach w/plug; it's yellowed just like mine.

Still doesn't make sense to me. All the gauges are the same except that one. The "glass" mask with hole is used for the clock, with out used for the tach. There has to be another reason.
