Just curious...are the sidemarkers on the front fenders the same as ones on the sides of the rear 1/4`s or are the ones on the front rectangular? (trying to determine if there is 73-74 fenders on the car too) I'm pretty sure they're 73/74 fenders. The front markers don't match the rear style and I've seen on other 71's that the front and rear match. Also, I have the receipt from the engine work showing nearly $4k in engine work. I believe I also have the receipt for the tranny rebuild. The tranny rebuild cost around $500 I think.

I'm just a newby here, but I'm no stranger to the art of presenting a car. Sure, I looked at your pics & they are pertinent details that need to be seen: but, where are the pics of the car? If you get it running well & offer it with clear shots of the whole car, you should get what the market will bear. As it is you are depressing your cars value by not giving value to its full potential. If it were me selling: I'd get it running right, take pics of all 4 sides & put it on EBay. Good luck! Naturally, I would take 100 more pictures of much, much higher quality before ever putting it on Ebay or Craigslist. As far as getting it running right, I haven't had a lot of luck with that. When the car gets warmed up, if you put the car in drive and try to get it to move, it stalls out immediately. I've switched my vacuum advance from the right side of the carb to the left.... other than that, I don't know where to look. Any advice on that would be great. Since switching the vacuum, I haven't had a chance to check it.

Does this mean the Legendary Seat Covers price is lowered due to winter/economy/weather or any other factors? Probably. I haven't had much luck selling them since they're for a split bench. They're black on black with NOS cloth

Your best advise for getting your car running right cannot be found on the internet. What you need is hands on experience looking under your hood. I suppose the guy that put that engine in your car isn't up to the task. I'd be hunting an industrial mechanic & asking him for help on the side or you could go to a reputable auto repair shop.

What I will say is that it in no way, size, shape or form appears to be a 71 500. Wrong tail lights, 500 has buckets and Rallye gauges. Car has 73-74 front bumper and grilles. rebuilt 0 mile 700r4 trans? I dont think so...thats a GM trans. to me, it looks like a bare bones 71 318 bench seat project car with some 73-74 parts on it. How to sell? I disagree with Chris about Ebay. I don`t understand the trustworthy comment. As a seller you control the transaction....how are you going to get ripped as long as you play the game with intelligence? Ebay is the #1 high profile way to get the car seen by many people in a short period of time. Craigslist...fine...but still a local thing for the most part. Moparts? I`d pass on that. For every legit interested buyer-you would have 20 trolls, flippers, and tire kickers asking for a million pics, more info, blah blah blah and not following thru. Sell the extra parts seperate of the car. You wont get much extra on the sale by including them with the car. Whats is worth? Since I only see 6 pics of the car, showing its condition in a very limited way..... as well as the apparent errors in the description of the car........I think I`ll pass on quoting a figure. tom, i should have explained what i meant with the ebay comment better. My experience is that you must do your homework, both as a seller and a buyer, in order not to get taken by a scammer. heck the guy i just bought my new 74 parts car from had 2 different people bid and win and not pay, hints how it kinda fell into my lap. i personally got ripped off once, but i was only out 20 bucks, i trust tom, he knows more bout selling on there then me so if tom say go ebay, go ebay.

Tom could it be a pontential buyer LOL ( if wife let him go once more LOL ) /quote] Oh No....I would not even dare bring up the subject with her. She still thinks I tricked her into agreeing for me to get the last one. She says that I told her that I was buying it to part out and wants to know why its still at our house in one piece. (I never said anything about parting it out) Back to the car.... I`ll express my opinions as a potential buyer. Not having the original 71 fenders would be a significant deduction. They are a 1 year fender. Locating/ buying a good pair and having them shipped could prove to be a significant expense. Throw in a 71 bumper and grilles to the mix and that could very well be $1000 or more. As far as selling the car, I am not saying that Ebay is necessarily the way to go. I am just saying that it is a good legitimate option that will reach many potential buyers. Honestly, if I were selling a car....I`d start my attempts on a local level. In my case, I`d put it in my front yard with a for sale sign and then work up the chain from there. Chris is correct that one of the problems with sellig cars on Ebay is flaky non paying bidders. You very well might have to "sell" the car 2-3 times to get a legit buyer who will follow thru. Heck, I had some guy buy an 833OD trans from me on Friday, who on Sunday told me that the trans "did not fit his application" and now doesnt want to pay. Seems kind of dumb, but he did offer to give me $25 for the hassle. What scares me off on a lot of Ebay cars is the sellers ridiculous payment terms. Terms such as full payment via wire transfer within 48 hours, pick up within 5 days. I think a seller with reasonable/realistic terms is much more likely to find a buyer. If I was selling a car with a $3,000 reserve, I`d just want a $300-$400 non refundable deposit within 48 hours with pick up and the balance of payment expected within 15 days. If the buyer needed additional time to pick up, I`d give it to them as long as the car was paid for. I`d give the buyer the option to "walk" if they were not satisfied with the car at time of pick up. (I would keep the deposit) You might even do better if you sell the engine/trans seperate of the car. Since it is not original to the car, I would not see any harm in doing that.

I considered that as an option... Wouldn't a local pick-up sale be the wisest thing to do? How much could I expect out of a fresh 383 with $4k of documented work and the rebuilt trans. I've got a 727 core I could probably get rid of now that I think about it.

Thats a hard question for me to answer. Its all about finding 1 buyer willing to pay a reasonable price. From a personal perspective, I would not pay top dollar for it because I`d prefer a 440 if I was looking for a BB. However, I`d expect that there is someone out there, who lives within driving distance of you, who would love to have the rebuilt 383 and trans. You could always put it on Ebay with a reserve and test the waters. The worst thing that could happen is that it would not reach your reserve.
