It's pretty bad when my brand new Legendary seat covers don't look as good as my 45 year old used ones do.

Are you sure you do not have a foam problem
The vinyl looks ok from 1500 miles

Been there.....done that. Wait until the buttons start falling off. Then you will really be mad. I would have recommended steaming the foam prior to installing the covers. But what is done...is done. No sense in taking them back apart at this point. Sit them out in the sun off and on for a few days. They will get to looking better in time. When this happens....everyone always blames the foam. Sure...I understand that 40+ year old foam gets compressed. What I am not convinced of is that the new foam wasn't reverse engineered from old compressed foam. About 5 years ago....When my 72 covers came out like that, I followed well intended advice and got new foam. It was a waste of money. No help whatsoever. At that point, I took the upper sections to an upholstery shop for a "professional" to deal with Once done, they looked significantly better.....but far from what I had expected. The shop told me that I had installed the covers fine, but they had "steamed the p*ss out of the foam, and re-installed the covers, to get the modest improvement. Over time, sitting in my barn, exposed to temperature changes.....they look pretty good now. 71 Legendary covers that I installed 20+ years ago went on extremely tight.

I took a second look..... I have to ask..... Did you transfer your old listing wires into the backside of the new covers? Then hog ring them down? There seems to be no "pull down" in the area of the vertical listing wires. Bottoms have listing wires too....and I don't see any significant "pull down" on them either.

Yeah, I am considering saving up the have the hounds tooth put in the seat bun and back and in the rear seats as well so they match. These buttons constantly fall of and the covers have already worn a hole in them. If you can find cover elsewhere than Legendary I would recommend it. Mine are awful!

Sorry to leave you guys hanging. Here's the rest of the story. Yes, the white seats on the right are 45 year old originals. The blue ones on the left are brand new Legendary seat covers. After calling Legendary every month for the past year so they could tell me the new seat foams were not available, I finally bought foams from PUI. I took the seat cores and the PUI foams and the Legendary covers to a guy I know that has been doing high end automotive interiors for over 50 (yes, FIFTY! ) years. I've seen his work in every local car show since I was a kid. He's a perfectionist and does amazing work. He and I spent several days sanding and painting and re-doing these seats. We were both very disappointed with the way they came out. It took us a while to figure out what was wrong. It wasn't the cores, or the foams or the installation. It was the seat covers themselves. These covers have an "inner skin" and an "outer skin", and there is supposed to be foam padding in between. On the new covers, the inner skin is VERY tight, but the outer skin is loose. There is an air gap in between the layers. I took apart an old original seat and found a sheet of 1/2" think foam between the inner and outer skins. The new Legendary covers have 3/8" thick strips of light density foam that run between the stitching. It's just not substantial enough to fill the gap and give the seat that tight inflated look. So I took a bunch of pictures, and showed them to the Legendary guys at Carlisle last week. The first thing they said was "Who's foam did you use?" I said "PUI, because you guys don't make foams for these seats." He pointed to a set of foams sitting on the table and said "Right there, they were released last week." (Sometimes you just can't win) So after 20 minutes of arguing, they told me to send my pictures to their "Tech Guy" and see what he says. So that's where we stand right now. I'm still waiting for a reply.
