I primarily blame Nacho!
I'm sitting here in Michigan, minding my own business....three old Mopars (got the C-P-D thing covered with a '77 Chrysler Cordoba, a '72 Dodge Charger and a '70 Plymouth Duster), and have my power-train bases covered, (Chrysler's a big block[400-4], Charger's a small bock [340-4] and the Duster's a Slant 6.
Then I get a PM from Nacho-RT74 at another board saying, "Why don't you join this other board about 71-74 Chargers". Like a moth to a light, I came over here and joined up...I didn't really know why.
I just finished (mostly) the exterior on a new shop this summer. Hope to finish it inside this spring and summer, and move all the "kids" into it next fall.
But for now, not really spending money on the cars. I want the shop done first. And, the Charger is either #2 or 3 in line for restification, so I'm not really watching for parts anyway....
...when at today's WPC swap meet in metro-Detroit I found a nice, original, '72 340 "trap door" air cleaner. Mine is, like hundreds of other parts for the car, missing.
"I don't need that right now", I think to myself. I have other things I need more. I walked past that booth 3 times, looked at it a once and talked to the seller for a while. "Bad idea", I think to myself. Still, it's in very nice shape, better than the 3 others I found at the show. And not priced too badly, at least not compared to what I've seen on ebay. And I can put my hands on this one and know what I'm getting. Hmmm......
Then, like a voice from Venezuela, I hear the question "WWND...What Would Nacho Do"?
So I bought the thing. I guess that's how this 71-74 Charger disease begins, huh? ;D
